Artificial Intelligence (AI) is emerging as a transformative tool in the educational field, particularly in initial teacher training. This study analyzes the benefits, barriers, and levels of knowledge that future teachers demonstrate regarding the use of AI in the city of Pilar, Paraguay. Using a quantitative, exploratory, and non-experimental design, a structured survey was conducted with 75 student-teachers enrolled in the Basic School Teacher Training Program. The results reveal a positive perception of the benefits of AI, highlighting time savings (72%), access to personalized content (64%), and individualized learning (56%). However, significant limitations were also identified: 84% pointed to the lack of technological infrastructure as the main barrier, and 78.7% reported the absence of specialized training. Only 25.3% indicated knowledge of ethical principles related to AI use. These findings underscore the urgent need to incorporate digital and ethical competencies into teacher education programs. Despite structural limitations, a favorable attitude toward training was observed, which represents an opportunity for professional development and educational innovation. It is concluded that integrating AI into teacher training requires a comprehensive approach that connects technology, pedagogy, and ethics, thereby ensuring effective and equitable adoption.
